About us

Welcome to Local Republic! Our mission is to make it easy for you to collaborate with your neighbors (as well as people around the world) to solve all kinds of issues affecting your real-life community. We recognize that solutions to large issues can often be found at a local level, and aim to provide the tools that would facilitate the implementation of these solutions.

Who we are

Local Republic has been founded by thee French college friends, who, after pursuing different careers after graduation, decided to take matters into their own hands and save the world.

Benoît Werner (Berkeley, California) is Local Republic’s CEO, and is the one who came up with the original idea that became this website. He spends a lot of time thinking about the future of the world and the possible consequences of the current energetic, economic and social policies, as well as about ways to avert said consequences. Local Republic is a product of this thinking.

Yann Plancqueel (Paris, France) is in charge of back-end engineering, and joined Local Republic after a successful career in video game development. Yann is also a qualified sociologist and a proficient rock drummer.

Gueorgui Tcherednitchenko (Berlin, Germany) is Local Republic’s UI designer, front-end developer and copywriter. Before teaming up with Yann and Benoît, he has been a technical lead at a Web agency in Paris, as well as a freelance Web designer. He is also a photographer and a language nerd.
