How does it work?

  1. 1. Report an issue that you would like to see resolved.
  2. 2. Discuss and solve it with the help of citizens of your own community.
  3. 3. Share the solution so that people everywhere can benefit from it.

Here are some issues Local Republic would be perfect to solve:

Loved Vélib'!

I was in Paris, France last weekend and I fell in love with their bike sharing system: it’s awesome! Basically, wherever you are, you can get a bike almost for free. What a good idea for the environment! I also visited Bordeaux and I was really surprised to see that this system is implemented there too. French people are just the best!

We need to have a similar system here in Los Angeles. There are way too many cars!

Very expensive garbage

As you may know, garbage collection is really expensive in our town. The price is very high and not justified because it is not based on the amount of waste collected.  The local government asks us to sort, reduce, reuse and recycle, but there are no facilities or centers where you can drop off perfectly reusable material.

I think we should implement a weight-based garbage collecting system. It already exists in some cities, and it works really well because it incentivizes people to manage better their waste. And it's fairer, price wise.

Wastewater

Our village needs a sewage treatment plant but it is very expensive.

We should maybe think about alternatives like constructed wetlands. It would be perfectly adapted to the structure of the village and 'state of the art', environmentally speaking.
